Bhusawal Division became the 1st across Central Railway and Maharashtra State as per BEE & became 7th amongst Indian Railway’s buildings to receive NZEB (Net Zero Energy Building) award certificate for Senior Secondary Railway School, Bhusaval and NZEB Plus (Net Zero Energy Building Plus) for Administrative Building of Zonal Railway Training Institute Bhusawal, by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Govt of India.

In a proud moment for Central Railway, 2 (Two) of our buildings have been awarded with “Shunya label” for its Net Zero Energy Building initiatives. These 2 buildings are:
- Senior Secondary Railway School, Bhusawal.
- Administrative building of Zonal Railway Training Institute (ZRTI) Bhusawal.
This award is given by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Government of India on date 23rd Oct, 2023. Earlier 6 buildings of Indian Railways have been awarded with this prestigious award:
- Lekha Bhavan of Accounts department, South Central Railway (SCR) HQ, Secunderabad
- Kendriya Vidyalaya building of Rail Wheel Factory (RWF), Bengaluru
- Administrative Building, Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai. (Here Vande Bharat train coaches are being manufactured)
- Tiny Tot school-1, Raipur, SECR (South East Central Railway)
- Higher secondary railway school, Bhilai, SECR (South East central railway)
- Technical Training centre of Modern Coach Factory (MCF), Raebareli.
Now above 2 buildings of Bhusawal division are 7th and 8th building across the all Indian Railway buildings to receive this prestigious award.
Zonal railway training Institute (ZRTI) Bhusawal:
It is zonal level training Institute of Central Railway, where staff of all 5 divisions of CR such as Mumbai, Bhusawal, Nagpur, Pune, Solapur goes regularly for various refresher training, initial recruitment training etc. All loco pilots, guards, station masters, TTEs, technical staff go to ZRTI for their various training activities.
- The administrative building of ZRTI which got this BEE Shunya plus award has:
- 288.48 KW connected load
- Building type- net zero energy building
- Built up area- 6503 sq. Mtr
- Annual energy consumption- 40379 kWh/year
- Annual energy generation- 237484 kWh/year
- Energy performance index- (-) 30.3 kWh/sq. Mtr/year
- Label awarded- Shunya Plus
- Validity of label awarded- 3 years from 23/10/23 onwards
Senior Secondary railway school, Bhusawal:
- It is a school run by Railways at Bhusawal. The features of this building for which it got Shunya award from BEE are:
- 42 KW connected load
- Building type- net zero energy building
- Built up area- 4126 sq. Mtr
- Annual energy consumption- 9752 kWh/year
- Energy performance index- 2.36 kWh/sq. Mtr/year
- Label awarded- Shunya
- Validity of label awarded- 3 years from 23/10/23 onwards
Indian Railways is committed to its zero carbon emission mission goal by 2030. IR is taking various steps to achieve this goal. Getting more BEE Shunya & Shunya (+) Award certifications is in target.
Principal chief electrical engineer Shri N. P. Singh, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM)/Bhusawal Smt. Ity Pandey, Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer Shri Yudishthir Palatasingh has taken initiatives in planning of these 2 buildings as Shunya label buildings and their certification by BEE. Again another 3 (three) buildings are planned by Bhusawal division for Shunya label from BEE certification.
