Chennai Metro Update: Tiruvottriyur Theradi Station and Wimco Nagar Depot Station to become operational now

The metro rail service is presently available between Washermanpet to Wimco nagar (9kms).

  • In this route, works which were ongoing in two metro stations namely Tiruvottriyur Theradi Station and Wimco Nagar Depot Station has been completed and approval has been accorded by the Metro Rail Safety Commissioner (CMRS) post inspection.
  • In this connection, both Tiruvottriyur Theradi Station and Wimco Nagar DepotStation will be operational from 13.03.2022 onwards.
  • Passengers are being informed that Metro Trains will stop in the above mentioned Metro Stations. 
  • Further, Passengers can park their vehicles (two wheeler and four wheeler) in Wimco Nagar Metro Station free of charge till 31.03.2022. 

Further, Chennai metro has now achieves a new feat in Metro service patronage:

  • More than 2 lakh ridership recorded on 11.03.2022.  
  • CMRL commenced  its passenger service from 29.6.2015 and has successfully  completed 6 years of Metro services in Chennai and is in its 7th year of Metro Service. 
  • The ridership has crossed above 2 Lakhs commuters in a day on 11.03.2022.  
  • CMRL has started passenger service from 29.6.2015 and had successfully completed 6 years of metro services and are in 7th year now. 
  • Since Feb. 2021, the full Phase -1 & Phase -1 Extn of 54.41 Kms is in operation.
