Hon’ble Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw visits Balasore, Jaleswar, Kharagpur & Kolkata for inspection and also attends various programmes

Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology, Govt. of India visited Balasore, Jaleswar, Kharagpur and Kolkata during his two day visit and attended various programmes.

  • On the 1st day of his visit at Bahanaga Bazar Station near Balasore, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw met the first responders at the accident site, local people, villagers, members of NGOs etc. He interacted with them and appreciated their effort to save the lives of many passengers.
  • Later, in the afternoon Shri Vaishnaw held a meeting with State & District Administrators at Balasore. Thereafter, he visited the Balasore Hospital and expressed his gratitude to the entire Medical Team composed of doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, supporting staff and others.
  • He praised their untiring service immediately after the accident and afterwards for  treatment of the accident victims. In the evening, Shri Vaishnaw held a meeting with the members of the Chamber of Commerce. He also reviewed the redevelopment plan of Balasore Station and discussed some developmental measures.
  • On his second day of visit, he participated in a programme at Permit Field Ground, Balasore, to celebrate the International Day of Yoga. Around 7,000 yoga enthusiasts took part in the celebration along with the Railway Minister and Shri Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Hon’ble MP, Balasore.
  • Later, the Railway Minister inspected the station redevelopment works at Jaleswar under “Amrit Bharat Station Scheme” and conducted Section Inspection between Jaleswar and Kharagpur.

  • He also inspected the station redevelopment works at Kharagpur under “Amrit Bharat Station Scheme” and conducted Section Inspection between Kharagpur and Howrah. The Minister also inspected the Route Relay Interlocking (RRI) System at Kharagpur.
  • After reaching Kolkata, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw inspected the Underground Metro under construction of East-West Metro Project.
  • Later in the evening, the Minister for Railways held a high level meeting with the General Managers and Principal Head of the Departments of South Eastern Railway, Eastern Railway and Metro Railway to review the performance of the zones at Fairlie Place, Kolkata. Ms. Archana Joshi, General Manager, South Eastern Railway informed the Hon’ble Minister for Railways about the various developmental initiatives taken by South Eastern Railway viz. progress of o­ngoing projects, redevelopment of stations and other passenger amenities. Shri Vaishnaw has also reviewed the safety aspects with General Manager, Ms. Joshi emphasised on strengthening of safety measures.
