Kernex Microsystems wins repeat order from ICF-Chennai to expand KAVACH system installation

In a significant development, Kernex Microsystems (India) Ltd. has secured a pivotal order from Integral Coach Factory, Chennai, for the supply and installation of their cutting-edge Train Collision Avoidance System (TCAS), KAVACH.

Integral Coach Factory, Chennai, has entrusted Kernex Microsystems with a contract worth INR 5.77 Crores for the supply, installation, and commissioning of 08 Train Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) units, known as KAVACH. This order underscores the confidence placed in Kernex’s expertise in railway safety solutions.

  • The contract is awarded to the company for the supply, installation and commissioning of 08 Train Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) (KAVACH).
  • The order(s)/contract(s) is to be executed or to be delivered by 31st March, 2025.
  • Broad consideration or size of the order(s)/contract(s) is: INR 5.77 Crores.

Recent Order:

In April 2025, ICF-Chennai reinforced its commitment to railway safety by enhancing its partnership with Kernex, awarding an additional order valued at INR 8.26 Crores for the expansion of the TCAS (KAVACH) system. How Kernex is Helping in Reducing Train Collisions:

  • Kernex started developing Railway Safety systems from 1999 and successfully developed and demonstrated a prototype of ACDs to Konkan Railway Corporation Limited and Members of the Railway Safety Board.
  • In March 2000 the company entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with KRCL for Technical Collaboration for developing full scale networked Anti-Collision Systems (ACDs).
  • Together with KRCL, took up an intensive analysis of the major accidents that occurred in India, The functional requirements of the clients and operational safety procedures have been fully considered, for designing the logics of Anti Collision Systems.
  • Based on the concept and domain knowledge provided by Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. They developed the networked Anti-Collision Devices, using Global Positioning System, Radio Data Communication, Application Logics and Interfacing these with an Auto Braking System developed by KRCL.
  • By implementing cutting-edge, creative solutions like KAVACH, Kernex Microsystems has been instrumental in raising the safety standards of Indian railways, as demonstrated by this ongoing relationship and the current order.
