Kolkata Metro Update: Top slab of subway connecting underground Bimanbandar Metro Station and Jessore Road completed

Works of different Metro Railway projects in Kolkata have been going o­n during the lockdown. O­n 12.06.2021 a 25 metre long, 11.6 metre wide and 900 mm thick top slab of the subway connecting the underground Bimanbandar Metro Station and Jessore Road ( NH- 35) has been completed successfully inspite of heavy downpour.

  • Keeping the forecast of heavy downpour in mind, complete covering was arranged at the site to protect workers, machineries as well as newly casted concrete.
  • A total of 275 cubic metre concrete were consumed and all COVID protocols were maintained.
  • During monsoon, such protective covering will be arranged for all the upcoming casting works at the airport site of Metro Railway.
  • It is to be mentioned that the construction work of this 300 metre long sub-way connecting the underground Bimanbandar Station of Noapara-Barasat via Bimanbandar Metro project and Jessore Road has been going o­n in full swing during this lockdown maintaining all Covid protocols.
  • All site workers have been vaccinated to protect them from COVID.

Non-interlocking work of Noapara Carshed completed:

Meanwhile, Metro Railway Kolkata has successfully completed Non-interlocking (NI) work of Noapara Carshed on 06.06.2021.

  • This NI work involved modification of the existing Electronic Interlocking system at Noapara which is linked to all the routes, points, signals and track sections in the Carshed.
  • The modification done through non-interlocking will greatly improve the operational flexibility of movement of rakes to and from Noapara and thereby increase performance parameters of train running of Metro Railway.
  • Meanwhile, Shri Manoj Joshi, General Manager, Metro Railway has reviewed all the maintenance works of tracks, rakes and signaling system that have been undertaken during this lockdown at a high level meeting held o­n 07.06.2021.
  • During this meeting, he expressed his satisfaction o­n the progress of these maintenance works.
  • He instructed concerned officials to complete the works within the stipulated deadline.
  • Shri Joshi was also briefed about the COVID treatment being provided at Tapan Sinha Memorial Hospital.
  • He has advised to keep adequate oxygen cylinders, vaccines and medicines ready in this Hospital.
  • He also instructed to provide necessary treatment and care to all those patients coming to this Hospital with post – COVID complications.
