In the Fiscal Year 2023-24, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has marked notable achievements across diverse areas, encompassing freight loading, electrification endeavours, the rollout of new train services, and the enhancement of passenger facilities. These milestones underscore NFR’s commitment to bolstering transportation infrastructure, facilitating efficient logistics, and elevating the overall travel experience for passengers within its operational domain.

Some Achievements in Brief:

  • NFR achieved its best ever POL loading of 515 rakes, facilitating ease of doing business.
  • Achieved an impressive growth of 32% over target in Maize loading.
  • Fulfilling social duties even in most difficult times – NFR offered remarkable service to the people of Manipur during law-and-order situations by transporting essential commodities in 139 wagons to Khongsang in Manipur.
  • NFR’s relentless efforts resulted in carrying more tonnage in spite of limited line capacity.
  • A whopping number of 453 Bogie Covered Wagons (BCNHL) rakes released in just 3 months over NFR.
  • Improved system efficiency through proactive step of starting Closed Circuit rakes examination of BCNHL rakes at New Guwahati reducing movement of invalid empty rakes.
  • As a result of NFR’s continuous efforts, highest ever inward traffic of 35.30 million tonnes was achieved during FY 2023-24 which recorded a growth of 6.9% as compared to previous financial year.

On the way to 100% Electrification:

NFR is rapidly progressing to accomplish 100% Electrification across the zone. For that, 921.62 Route Kilometres & 1279.74 Track Kilometres have been electrified during 2023-24.  Cumulative 2583 Route Kilometre & 4485 Track Kilometre Electrification over NFR completed which is 61% of its total Kilometre.

Providing Better Services to Passengers:

  • NFR is committed to provide better services to the public in quantity and quality. For that, NFR had introduced eleven new trains in 2023-24.
  • To provide better travel experience, eleven conventional trains were converted to modern Linke Hofmann Busch rakes.

  • O­n public demand, 34 pairs of Mail Express & Passenger trains were provided with additional stoppages at 35 nos. of stations by NFR in 2023-24.
  • Also, 151 nos. of coaches were permanently augmented in 25 pairs (62 rakes) of Mail Express trains to create additional berths for the waiting listed passengers.
  • For passenger/pedestrian, 10 Foot Over Bridges were constructed. Also, to provide ease of movement for Divyangjans, aged and children o­n railway platforms, 04 Lifts and 04 Escalators were commissioned in 2023-24.
