About 3rd & 4th line between Kalyan-Badlapur Stations:
- The existing two lines between Kalyan and Karjat are carrying mixed traffic of Mail/express, Goods trains and also suburban services.
- The Satellite towns and cities of Badlapur, Ambarnath, Ulhasnagar need proper suburban rail connection for journey to Kalyan and Mumbai. Present services are run with terminals at Ambernath, Badlapur, Karjat, Khopoli and cannot be increased due to saturation on Kalyan-Badlapur section.
- The new suburban corridor from Kalyan to Badlapur will enable augmentation of suburban rail services and will provide much needed suburban rail connectivity to these towns and will provide the infrastructure for their development.

- Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation Limited (MRVC Ltd.), a Public Sector Undertaking of Govt. of India under Ministry of Railways (MoR) was incorporated under Companies Act, 1956 on 12th July 1999 with an equity capital of Rs. 25 crore shared in the ratio of 51:49 between Ministry of Railways and Government of Maharashtra.
