Namo Bharat Trains: Ensuring comfortable travel amidst scorching heat

The operational segment of the Delhi–Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor, spanning 34 km, provides commuters a respite from the scorching summer heat through its advanced onboard air conditioning system in the Namo Bharat Trains. Despite the rising temperatures, these trains maintain a cool and refreshing atmosphere, ensuring a comfortable journey for all passengers.

More Details:

The 34 km operational stretch of the Delhi–Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is proving to be a saviour for passengers amidst the blistering heat, providing a comfortable and convenient travel experience. The Namo Bharat Trains are equipped with a sophisticated air conditioning system that ensures a consistently comfortable and cool environment onboard. Designed to effectively combat the heat, the robust air conditioning system keeps the interior of the trains refreshingly cool, making travel both comfortable and enjoyable.

NCRTC Provides Comfortable Journey:

  • Notably, travellers often encounter not only heat but also dust, and pollution while on the move. In this stretch for commuters to travel there were no reliable and comfortable public transport systems like Namo Bharat. Hence people now prefer Namo Bharat Trains for comfortable and convenient travel.
  • Maintaining a comfortable ambiance, each coach’s temperature is regulated at around 25 degrees Celsius, adjusted seasonally to accommodate varying weather conditions such as summer, winter, and monsoon.
  • Recognizing the heightened demand for cooling during summer, the AC system of the Namo Bharat train has been tailored accordingly.
  • Not confined to the younger demographic, both professionals and seniors also prefer Namo Bharat for travel, especially during hot weather spells.
  • To date, a staggering 1 million individuals have boarded Namo Bharat, with a 17 km section inaugurated initially and a subsequent 34 km stretch opened to the public from March 2024.

Passenger-controlled Door Operation System:

  • Furthermore, to conserve the conditioned air, the Namo Bharat train employs a passenger-controlled door operation system, a pioneering feature in the country’s railway infrastructure.
  • By facilitating passengers to manually open doors using push buttons only when required, energy consumption is minimised, preventing the escape of cool air, thus alleviating stress on the AC system. This innovation underscores both energy efficiency and passenger convenience.
  • The AC system undergoes regular maintenance and checks, including the cleaning of AC filters every 15 days, ensuring optimal functionality.
  • Additionally, Namo Bharat train platforms and stations are thoughtfully designed to provide ample ventilation, with heights exceeding 20 metres, mitigating heat discomfort for waiting passengers.
  • Ventilation fans in the premium lounge further enhance passenger comfort. Complementing these amenities, clean drinking water is freely available to passengers at stations.

Currently Operational and Future Section:

  • Currently servicing the 34 km stretch from Sahibabad to Modinagar North, the semi-high-speed Namo Bharat train operates at intervals of 15 minutes, swiftly ferrying passengers to their destinations.
  • The comprehensive Delhi-Meerut corridor, slated for completion by June 2025, encompasses the Meerut Metro MRTS project from Meerut South to Modipuram Depot, promising an integrated and efficient transportation network.
