S.C. Railway’s Secunderabad railway station bags National Tourism Award for best tourist friendly railway station

Secunderabad Railway Station, South Central Railway received the National Tourism Award for the Best Tourist Friendly Railway Station of Indian Railways (2018-19) on 27th September, 2022.

  • The award was presented by Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of Culture, Tourism and Development of North Eastern Region, Govt. of India to Shri A.K Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division and Shri Jogesh Kumar, Station Director, Secunderabad Railway Station in a function held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.
  • The National Tourism Awards are presented by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India to various segments of travel and tourism industries in recognition of their outstanding performance.
  • Secunderabad Railway Station was built by the Nizam of Hyderabad State in 1874. The station is o­ne the best tourist attractions located in the heart of the city with access to locations like Golconda fort, Charminar, Mecca Masjid, Birla Mandir, etc.
  • The Award for the Best Tourist Friendly Railway Station recognises the Passenger-friendly facilities and amenities provided at Secunderabad station for the benefit of tourists such as provision of escalators, lifts, Foot Over Bridges, tourist information centre, help desk, charging points, taps, coolers, waiting halls, battery operated cars, taxi/ auto stand, retiring rooms, AC waiting halls, general waiting halls, etc.
  • In addition, all the major tour operators and star hotels are located in the vicinity of Secunderabad Railway station.
