SER achieves 100% electrification of its total Route Kilometres

With the completion of electrification work of the entire Rupsa-Bangriposi section of Kharagpur Division o­n 09.02.2022, South Eastern Railway has achieved the milestone of 100% electrification of its total Route Kilometres. South Eastern Railway is the second Zonal Railway after West Central Railway to achieve 100% electrification.

  • Rupsa–Bangriposi (89 km) Electrification Project was sanctioned in the year 2018-19 at a cost of Rs.94.89 crore. 
  • The Electrification work of Rupsa-Bhanjpur Section (55 km) was completed o­n 30.03.2021. 
  • The electrification work of the remaining portion of the project i.e. Bhanjpur – Bangriposi (34km) has been completed o­n 09.02.2022.
  • Sri S. Mitra, Commissioner of Railway Safety, South Eastern Circle inspected the Bhanjpur – Bangriposi Section o­n 9th February, 2022 along with Sri Ishaq Khan, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, SER, Sri M. Pradhan, Divisional Railway Manager, Kharagpur and a team of officers from SER Headquarters and Division.
  • The completion of 100% electrification work will reduce the carbon foot print in the environment. 
  • This will also help to establish seamless train operation in SER jurisdiction. 
  • It will ensure better connectivity and improve punctuality in service by providing energy efficient and pollution free transportation.

Recent Update:

Ms. Archana Joshi, General Manager, South Eastern Railway inspected different sections of Chakradharpur Division along with the Principal Officers from SER Headquarters today (04-02-2022). Sri Vijay Kumar Sahu, Divisional Railway Manager, Chakradharpur and other Divisional Officers were also present. 

  • The inspection started from Rangra station where General Manager inaugurated the Electronic Interlocking Building. 
  • Later, she has inspected the Barsuan and Bimalgarh stations and suggested some improvement measures. 
  • The General Manager inaugurated the Remodelling Work of Barsuan Yard and Cover Shed & CC Flooring of Central Sick Line, Bondamunda during the inspection.
  • Ms. Archana Joshi, inspected major & minor Railway Bridges, Railway Tracks, Limited Height Subway, Running Rooms, Track Machines, Health Units, Crew & Guard lobby, Railway Colony etc. 
  • The General Manager has given priority to the facilities provided to the passengers and above all cleanliness at station premises.
  • While conducting the inspection, Ms. Archana Joshi urged all officers and staff to be more careful o­n safety of train operations. 
  • She also met the public representatives and media persons of the area.
