South Central Railway’s Secunderabad Division develops new loading facility near Manikgarh Station in record time

A new Goods shed was developed recently near Manikgarh Station i.e., Manikgarh New Goods Shed (MNSM) for facilitating loading from freight customers.

More Details:

  • Reflecting the proactive approach of Secunderabad Division towards customer facilitation, Secunderabad Division of South Central Railway has developed an additional line for facilitating freight loading at Manikgarh New Goods Shed, within 30 days of receiving the proposal.
  • The Goods shed, situated 2.15 kms from the Manikgarh station, was opened for traffic on 3rd March 2023. With the successful marketing of the Business Development Unit (BDU) of Secunderabad Division, a new commodity of Iron Ore was started for loading from the Goods Shed.
  • The Goods shed has been generating approximately Rs. 60 crs freight revenue in a month from Iron Ore loading.
  • The BDU team has been continuously interacting with the freight customers in the region, exploring the possibility of increasing loading from the new Goods shed.
  • These efforts resulted in the existing freight customer giving a proposal for loading additional commodities from this station. However, to facilitate faster loading, an additional loading line was requested to increase throughput from the station.
  • The Secunderabad team immediately undertook the task of developing an additional line. The existing line was extended further so as to accommodate two rakes simultaneously.
  • Necessary work like formation, ballasting, tamping and track linking was carried in a meticulous manner. Further, a loading platform was also developed for facilitating stacking as well as loading of the material. All these works were carried out within 30 days of receiving the proposal from the division.
  • With the creation of the new infrastructure, the divisional BDU team continued with their efforts leading to the first rake being loaded from the new (extended) line yesterday. The rake loaded with 4083 tonnes of Iron Ore and generating Rs. 63 lakhs (approx) in revenue is destined for Kakinada Port.

Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railways appreciated DRM Secunderabad Divisional along with his BDU Team as well Operating and Commercial team of Headquarters for taking swift action for attracting new traffic and facilitating increasing loading from the station. He advised all the divisions to continue with such efforts so as to not only attract new freight traffic towards railways but also to strengthen the existing traffic at different stations.
