Western Railway’s freight loading has shown an upward trend by registering 42.84 million tonnes in the current financial year from April to August 2023. It is worthwhile to mention that WR has achieved the best ever loading in Container, POL products, Auto loading & running of crack trains in the month of August 2023.
More Details:
- According to a press release issued by Shri Sumit Thakur – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, during the month of August 2023, WR achieved 9.08 million tonnes in freight loading.
- In August 2023, WR achieved the best ever loading in Container with 2.90 million tonnes, surpassing the previous best of 2.72 million tonnes in July 2023. Similarly, the best ever loading in POL products was achieved with loading of 701 wagons per day surpassing the previous best of 688 wagons in the month of July 2023.
- WR also achieved the best ever loading in Auto with 112 wagons per day during August 2023 surpassing the previous best of 100 wagons per day in July 2023. Additionally, WR also achieved the best ever performance in running of crack trains in the last month.
- Total 4847 crack trains were run in August 2023 surpassing the previous best performance record of 4497 crack trains run in March 2023.
- During the month of August 2023, Western Railway has shown substantial growth in the loading of various commodities over the last year for the same period. Container loading has registered a growth of more than 27% while POL products have seen a growth of almost 14%. Salt loading has increased by 39% while loading of other commodities has increased by 17%.
