Insights on Multi Modal Transport Service (MMTS) of South Central Railway

The Multi Modal Transport Service (MMTS) is a unique concept of urban transportation in the entire country. It is o­ne of the most Economical, Safe and convenient modes of suburban transport system for the people of twin cities of Hyderabad. 

  • SCR began gradual resumption of the MMTS services from June, 2021 and since then has been progressively increasing the number of services. As of now, 86 services are being operated to meet the suburban travel needs of the twin cities region.
  • The services cater to a stretch of 50 Kms spread over the sections of Falaknuma – Secunderabad – Hyderabad – Begumpet – Lingampalli – Telapur – Ramchandrapuram covering 29 Railway stations, connecting the South and Eastern parts of the city to the fast progressive Western end. 
  • The timings of MMTS services have been scheduled so as to seamlessly meet the travel needs of different segment of passengers, duly giving importance to the passenger traffic and destinations. The services facilitate the travel needs of scattered groups of passengers including those travelling long distances due to work and family commitments.
  • The services commence as early as 04.30 am and continue till 00.30 at midnight. In addition, MMTS is the most cost effective modes of public transport, with a minimum fare of Rs. 5 and maximum fare of Rs. 15. Season ticket facility is also available for daily commuters of MMTS which is very less when compared to the other modes of transport. Apart from booking counters, MMTS tickets can also be purchased through Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) and Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) mobile app.
  • Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager (in-charge), South Central Railway appealed the passengers to avail various facilities such as cash less ticketing options and season tickets to make their journey hassle-free. He stated that MMTS is the best mode of transport to reach the destination safely in a cost effective manner.
