MMRDA Update: Metro line 6 completed to around 66% of the 15.31 km stretch

The civil work of stations on metro line 6 is 51.50% completed. In addition, MMRDA has achieved 71% viaduct completion on the 15.31 km long Metro corridor of Metro line 6. Overall physical progress on this line is 66% complete.

More Details:

  • MMRDA is constructing a 15.31 km long Metro Line which will be operational between Swami Samarth Nagar to Vikhroli (EEH) passing through Jogeshwari, WEH, and Powai.
  • The major portion of the line will run through the JVLR, which is going to be a fully elevated corridor, connecting Western and Eastern Express Highways as well as the Metro region from North-South& East-West areas of Mumbai.
  • Metro line 6 will provide railway based facilities to the Governmental, commercial and geographically important areas.

  • Integrated with several Metro Line’s Metro Line-6 is having a total of 13 nos of stations. Several stations of this corridor are Integrated with other Metro corridors. Metro Line 2A at Shastri Nagar(infinity mall), Line7 at JVLR, Line 3 at Seepz area & Line 4 at Kanjurmarg (W). Also provide connectivity to suburban railways Jogeshwari and Kanjurmarg respectively.
  • The combined 2.58 km long road flyover to be constructed below this Metro Line at a common pier in the road median to provide additional transport facilities.

Shri S.V.R. Srinivas, Hon’ble Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA said MMRDA is constructing the Mumbai Metro network to provide mass rapid transit services to people within a small approach distance. Metro Line 6 will provide the much-needed rail-based connectivity between the western and eastern suburbs, and will contribute to an integrated public transport network for Mumbaikars.
