About Vizianagaram-Titlagarh Third Line Project:
- The 3rd line between Vizianagaram – Titlagarh has been sanctioned during 2015-2016 as a throughput enhancement project by the Ministry of Railways under the jurisdiction of East Coast Railway.
- As doubling is in progress between Sambalpur to Titlagarh with earlier sanction, the 3rd line is proposed between Titlagarh to Vizianagaram where the existing Double line is fully utilised to its section capacity.
- The objective of the project is to cater to the increase in freight traffic due to upcoming major projects in Power sector, Industry, Mineral, and Agricultural fields in Western Orissa in the industrial corridor along Visakhapatnam to Jharsuguda and also to provide an alternative route to mineral-rich area of Koraput – Kirandol and once completed opens an alternative route to oversaturated Kuragpur – Jharsuguda section of Howrah – Mumbai GT route and Howrah – Chennai Mainline.
- The projected total additional site traffic considered for the project is 48.92 Million Ton at an estimated ROR of 16.74%. The project covers 26 block sections between Titlagarh to Vizianagaram and also a Bypass line between Gotlam station (RV line) and Nellimarla station (on HWH – VSKP Main line).
