South Western Railway registers record performance in originating passenger traffic in 2022-23

South Western Railway has registered Rs 227.10 Crores of passenger revenue during August 2022 which is an all-time record.

More details:

  • SWR has surpassed 50 million originating passenger traffic during April 2022 – August 2022.
  • As compared to the revenue earned during the corresponding period of 2021-22 (Rs. 450.72 Crores), SWR has registered Rs.1084.89 Crores in the passenger earnings during the current financial year up to August 2022, which is an increase of 140.70%.
  • In the month of August 2022, 12.21 million originating passengers were transported by SWR as against 5.83 million passengers during the financial year 2021-22.
  • This has resulted in achieving an important milestone of transporting 58.31 million passengers during the current financial year.
  • To cater to the demands of the passengers, 23 Special train services were run to various destinations during this month. Further, to meet the demands of travelling public and to increase the earnings, special trains to various destinations during festival season have also been proposed.
  • Also, extra coaches are being planned, to clear the extra rush during the Festive/Holiday season. It may be noted that more than 99% of the train services of SWR have been restored as compared to the pre-covid period.
